In the era of large surveys, both ground-based and space missions, fast and reliable processing of massive observational datasets gathered by various telescopes is crucial. This task is not straightforward as it seems to be due to the specification and diversity of instruments available for astronomers. In order to optimise the whole procedure of observational data processing, dedicated tools are developed in many scientific institutions. One of such tools, developed by Warsaw and Toruń researchers is Black Hole TOM (BHTOM). It gathers and processes the data from instruments working within global telescope network OPTICON RadioNet Pilot (ORP). Also Polish telescopes and instruments are part of this network, including those localised in Piwnice Observatory, near Torun and Ostrowik Observatory near Warsaw.

On the 8th of April 2022 in the Institute of Astronomy of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Piwnice near Toruń, the one-day astronomical workshop on BHTOM tool took place. The workshop was co-organised by astronomers from the Nicolaus Copernicus University – prof. Agnieszka Słowikowska i dr. Paweł Zieliński, and prof. Łukasz Wyrzykowski from the University of Warsaw, who leads the group developing and running the BHTOM.

The workshop brought together about 30. reaserchers, including PhD and Master students from Poland. In addition, other people interested in this topic can participate remotely by using Zoom platform and YouTube channel. There are existing users of BHTOM included as well as new users who want to get involved in system developing. Besides lectures and hands-on sessions showing how to use the tool, some part of the workshop is devoted to discussing the future directions of system development and implementing necessary changes.

BHTOM tool is avaliable under web address: bhtom.space

The workshop is organised thanks to the financial support from EU Horizon 2020 grant no. 101004719 (ORP), Polish National Science Center Harmonia grant no. 2018/30/M/ST9/00311 and Ministry of Science and Higher Education programme the "Excellence Initiative - Research University" conducted at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
