Similarly to last year, this year NCU Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Informatics is running an international internship programmeToruń Astrophysics / Physics Summer Programme (TAPS2018). Four students from Poland and twenty from abroad are carrying out research projects supervised by scientists from the Nicolaus Copernicus University.

The topics of the projects which TAPS2018 participants are working on include, among others: astrophysical simulations, experiments with elementary particles, research on graphene and the applications of an atomic clock.

In addition to conducting tests, interns meet once a week to listen to lectures in English. They also visit the astronomical observatory and laboratories at the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Informatics.

Guest lectures for TAPS2018 participants will be given by Prof. László Kiss from the Konkoly Observatory of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, dr Vladyslav Usenko from the Palacký University Olomouc and dr Daniel Reitzner from the Slovak Academy of Sciences.

The TAPS 2018 programme was supported by the Visegrad Fund (www.visegradfund.org), MenloSystems, President of Torun, and Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Informatics at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun.
