From 7 to 11 January 2020, a delegation from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) in Bangkok visited the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Informatics. This was the second visit of the representatives of the University of Technology Thonburi from Thailand to the Nicolaus Copernicus University.

Professor Weerapong Chewpraditkul came to Toruń again, together with researchers from his team: Dr. Ongs Sakthong and Warut Chewpraditkul. Warut Chewpraditkul will stay in Toruń until 16 January, participating in the experiments conducted here; he will also make a presentation at the seminar of the Department of Applied Physics. On Thursday, 9th January, Prof. Chewpraditkul gave a lecture entitled "Light Output and Timing Characteristics of Ce-Doped Multicomponent Garnet Scintillators" as part of Thursday Colloquium. The complex scintillation crystals with grenade structure, which were the subject of the lecture, are the subject of common interest of the group led by Prof. Chewpraditkul and the Toruń Scintillation and Phosphorus Spectroscopy Team (consisting of dr habil. Winicjusz Drozdowski, NCU Prof., Prof. dr habil. Andrzej J. Wojtowicz, dr Marcin E. Witkowski and mgr eng. Michał Makowski). During the guests' stay, radio and thermoluminescence measurements are carried out on newly imported crystals. The cooperation will also result in two scientific publications.

KMUTT celebrates its 60th anniversary this year and is one of nine research universities in Thailand. In September 2018, on the initiative of the Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Informatics, an official partnership agreement was signed between KMUTT and the NCU. Currently, the cooperation is being extended on the basis of the Erasmus+ KA107 programme.
