The Jablonski Centennial Conference
on Luminescence and Photophysics

will be held at the

Institute of Physics, Nicholas Copernicus University
Torun, Poland

July 23 -27, 1998

to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Aleksander Jablonski (1898 - 1980), one of the pioneers of molecular photophysics and the thory of spectral line shapes.

The Jablonski Centennial Conference on Luminescence and Photophysics organized in Torun is our tribute  to Professor A. Jablonski whom we are proud to regard as our master and teacher. Scientific excellence, righteousness and passion for music were some of the major ingredients of  his strong personality. Being already a renown scientist he founded the centre for research in physics at the Nicholas Copernicus University after the World War II. Many of his former students in Torun and in other scientific centres continue and extend his work in the fields of luminescence, photophysics and photochemistry, biophysics, chemical physics and atomic and molecular spectroscopy.

The aim of the meeting in Torun is to provide the opportunity to interchange ideas and to assess the current and possible future trends in various areas of  luminescence spectroscopy and photophysics. Anyone interested in the subject of the conference is welcome to participate and join in the discussions.

We look forward to meeting you in Torun.
